About Better Dads Malaysia
Better Dads Malaysia is a non-profit organization that is designed to initiate, lead and coordinate a national movement for fathers in Malaysia that helps improve the quality of life for families and children by motivating, mobilizing and equipping fathers and father-figures to be the best they can be. In this way, fathers and father-figures can be inspired to take action to play an important role in building resilience, self-respect, positive self-worth and emotional intelligence in their children..
We intend to be inclusive to reflect the diversity of races, ethnicities, faiths and cultures in Malaysia. At the same time, we recognize that a primary male influence may not be present in a child’s life. Therefore, we also recognize some children’s primary father-figure is not their biological father but may be a stepfather, uncle, grandfather or someone otherwise connected with their family. We encourage anyone who sees themselves as a father-figure in any context to become involved with Better Dads Malaysia.
Better Dads Malaysia delivers resources, programs and events specific to the engagement style and needs of dads and father-figures. We also aim to positively promote the important role of Fathers, and Father-figures, through the formation of Better Dads Groups/Chapters in schools, communities, organizations, corporations and the workplace so as to create an enjoyable, informal and social environment for Fathers, and Father-figures that builds interaction, knowledge, support , skills so that they can feel connected to something positive and empowering.
Better Dads Malaysia aims to be the recognized as a thought leader in the field of fathering and support the institution of fatherhood by contributing to the national conversation about responsible fatherhood as we work in partnership with government agencies and committees, community organizations, schools, academics, various faith-based and secular organizations and corporations.
